Steps to a Successful Claim
STEP 1: FINDING A CONTRACTOR
Find a trusted, local roofing contractor to assess the damage.
STEP 2: FILING A CLAIM
Have the contractor assist you with calling in your claim, even if the assessment is marginal. This will protect you if future damage occurs. Never allow your insurance company to send a contractor to perform an insurance adjuster’s assessment.
STEP 3: REPRESENTATION
Have your chosen contractor advocate for you at the adjuster meeting. Having your contractor there will ensure the adjuster finds all your collateral damage.

STEP 4: BIDS
Getting bids for new construction is common and recommended. However, when the insurance company is involved, getting bids has its disadvantages that you should be aware of beforehand. Educate yourself on the pros and cons of the bidding process. One example is when your insurance company asks you to get bids, it will delay the overall process and/or minimize your net claim.
STEP 5: DEDUCTIBLES
The insured is always responsible for paying their own deductible. There are legal ways to help you with this deductible.
